Short Course in Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs)

November 9th & 10th, Hotel Blackfoot Hotel, Calgary | Register

Hello,
I am presenting a two day short course on polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) as part of the Association of the Chemical Profession of Alberta (ACPA) 2015 Short Course series.

I have been researching PAHs since 1995. I have worked on the measurement of PAHs in almost every matrix imaginable – air to water, fish to human, muscle to faeces.  I have assessed human exposure to PAHs as part of large epidemiological studies as well as used PAH fingerprinting to determine sources of petrogenic hydrocarbons in a river system.

This course is designed for those who possess little previous experience in PAHs and are working as:

  • Chemists
  • Biologists
  • Earth Scientists
  • Agrologists
  • Foresters
  • Engineers and Geoscientists
  • Anyone who works in the environmental sciences

The course covers everything from what a PAH is and how they are named to their physical chemical properties that drive their movement in the environment to how PAHs can be used for forensics investigations to determine potential sources.

Upon attending the course, you will have the fundamental knowledge on PAHs and be able to apply the knowledge to your work.

Thank You,
Court Sandau, PhD

* If you are unable to attend the conference and have questions concerning PAHs, get in touch with me.

P.S. – I have a solid plan in place to include information about PAHs that will meet everyone’s interests; however, in an effort to ensure the course is helpful and relevant to you, I’d appreciate it if you would email me and tell me what issues with PAHs face your job or profession and/or where have you dealt with PAHs previously?

I appreciated the opportunity to hear diverse perspectives voiced respectfully with a good overview of the topic.

Dr. Court Sandau’s perspective and talk were the most interesting part of tonight’s discussion.Science Cafe Attendee comment, TELUS SparkScience Centre, Calgary
